In the heart of our city, there lies a park frequented by families, friends, and our vibrant community. But this park, though full of life, holds a name that means little to the spirit and values of our community. We propose to rename Jerry Ivey Park to better reflect the unsung heroes who have shaped our community and provided our youth with countless opportunities for success.

Growing up in this community, I remember countless afternoons spent in that park, learning from community leaders and taking part in youth programs that changed the trajectory of many lives, including my own. These leaders never asked for accolades or recognition, yet their contributions nurtured future generations and instilled values of hard work, perseverance, and unity in us.
