Change the Laws Regarding Alleyway Maintenance in San Antonio

The Issue

The city of San Antonio will not take responsibility for public alleyways. Some alley ways are used for transport, and others like mine are only used for city services such as electricity and water access, with no thru traffic. We pay a combined 7.50% in sales tax between state and city to fund projects and employees for these tasks. But instead we can be fined and taken to court.

Neighbors should help keep the neighborhood clean, but in today's times, people are working long hours and sometimes barely have time to take care of their own property. Bottom line: city property equals city maintenance, or they can pay us to maintain it.

I understand that some may find this lazy or ridiculous, but as parents my wife and I are constantly working to make ends meet and when we do have any time or money to do something it should be done with the kids, not paying to up keep city property. It is small step that may help getting bigger and better things done with our city and our public spaces.
