The Issue

Please help a mother encourage the lawmakers to make positive changes for the children of our future.

In Indianapolis, demonstrators have been gathering with Nazi symbols on their person, their faces covered, in an attempt to spread fear and hatred. This deeply affects my community as it fosters division and incites hatred among the citizens of Indiana and other communities who witness these hate marches through various media outlets.

Hate speech is not merely hurtful words; it is a precursor to violence and discrimination. When hate speech is protected under the guise of free speech, it gives room for the normalization of hate ideologies, leading to an unsafe environment for all marginalized communities. It is crucial to recognize that words can incite real-world harm and that free speech should not be an excuse to spread messages that incite violence.

Many countries have successfully implemented laws restricting hate speech, balancing the right to free expression with the need to protect their citizens from harmful rhetoric. The United States should join these nations and reassess its stance on hate speech. The current laws allow hate speech to fester and grow, potentially leading to acts of violence.

We are calling for a change in legislation that currently shields hate speech under the First Amendment. Our goal is to push for laws that distinguish between free speech and hate speech. By doing this, we can take a stand against bigotry and ensure a safer and more inclusive society for all.

This petition seeks to engage lawmakers to amend the constitution or introduce new legislation that will hold individuals accountable for speech that promotes hate and violence. Let's work together to bring about this change and protect our communities from the toxic effects of hate speech.

Your signature can make a difference in advocating for these critical changes. Please sign this petition to support a safer and more unified America. By doing so, you contribute to creating an environment where everyone can feel respected and protected from hate. Sign now and be part of the movement for change!
