The Issue

For my eighth grade civics action project, i chose to change the rule of having only 1 line of eye black in high school lacrosse.

Lacrosse eye black is an accessory, but a part of the game that many players love and treat like a ritual.  Rule 2, Section 17: “Eye black must be one solid stroke with no logos/letters/numbers and shall not extend further than the width of the eye socket or below the cheekbone”.  While eye black comes with lots of style points, it also gives the player an advantage by “absorbing the interfering light better than the natural skin tone can, which reduces the glare for the player.”  So, eye black makes it easier to see and looks cool at the same time!
