Change the graduation venue for the College Academy at Broward College

Change the graduation venue for the College Academy at Broward College
The Issue
Many students of the College Academy at Broward College are expressing their dissatisfaction with the selected graduation venue. The current venue is located far from where the majority of students and their families reside, making it particularly challenging for them to attend, especially given the 7pm start time. This venue does not properly honor the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our graduating class. Graduation is a unique milestone we experience only once in our academic journey. It is a day to celebrate, surrounded by friends, family, and mentors who have supported us along the way. Therefore, we believe our class deserves a venue that is accessible, respectful, and worthy of the significance of this moment. A location that reflects the pride we feel for attaining our educational goals is crucial. Here are our points of concern: - Accessibility: The distant venue and late timing make it extremely difficult for many families to attend this important event. We propose considering alternative venues that are more centrally located within the community, ensuring every student’s family can easily participate in the celebration. One such venue is the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. College Academy has held graduations there in past years with little to no issues or complaints. The venue is beautiful, centrally located, and easily accessible for students and families. Overall, it is a far better choice for an occasion meant to truly honor the Class of 2026. By signing this petition, you join us in requesting that the district of Broward County reassess their decision and prioritize the needs and desires of their students. Together, we can ensure that our graduation day is marked by joy, pride, and a fitting environment that honors our achievements. Please sign this petition to support a change in the graduation venue for the College Academy at Broward College.
