Change the Giant Splash Bucket at Timber Ridge!

The Issue

To Whom it May Concern,

We, the undersigned, kindly request that Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark consider taking action to improve the waterpark experience for their youngest guests.

As a mother of two toddlers (ages two and three), I have been to Timber Ridge every year since my eldest child was born, including two large family gatherings to celebrate birthdays. Our family loves the waterpark and entire resort facility. We were excited to hear about the renovations that were taking place in the fall of 2023. However, when we held a birthday party there in January 2024, we were disappointed with the changes to the toddler area. While we understood some minor changes (my children had loved the swings that were previously there), we were confused as to the giant splash bucket that was installed. Throughout our weekend stay, the bucket tipped over every 3-4 minutes, letting out an enormous amount of water into the toddler area. I observed that not just our family, but most with young toddlers, spent every few minutes running to grab their children when the bell started tolling to remove them from the pool. I also observed that, for families who just entered the pool area, they were often unaware of the amount of water, resulting in multiple small children being knocked over by the splash. While the splash bucket appeared to be a fun addition for older children, it made the trip very frustrating for those in my group with younger toddlers (three and under).

We love Timber Ridge and hope to continue our annual trip. However, we would greatly appreciate consideration being given to adjusting the splash bucket. As this area is labeled for "young adventurers," it would be nice if the youngest were able to play safely and comfortably for more than a few minutes at a time. When I called Timber Ridge to see if other families had expressed concerns about the splash bucket, the staff stated that they were unaware. However, in reading reviews on social media of the waterpark, I have seen many parents expressing concern over this new addition. My hope is that this petition brings awareness to this issue and provides an opportunity to explore options, such as a couple hours daily of "toddler time" where the bucket is turned off, to make the waterpark experience enjoyable for all guests.

Thank you for your time.
