Change the Cooking Lab Menu in FACS Class

The Issue

I never anticipated that my first ever cooking class would be devoid of creativity and fulfillment. Now, I find myself with only 20 days left in my last lab, and with the challenge of creating a blueberry mug cake as my final task. It's not capturing my imagination, nor giving joy. Taking this course was meant to be a journey of culinary exploration, but we've been confined to repetitive, uninspiring staples. There are numerous recipes available that can better endow students with practical, interesting, and fun cooking skills.

A study from the Journal of Teaching in Physical Education indicated that practical lessons such as cooking classes, when enjoyable and engaging, can bolster student enthusiasm and foster a lasting interest. We need to capitalize on these critical opportunities to inspire young minds, but how can we do this with a blueberry mug cake?

So, we ask the administration and the instructor of our FACS class to allow a variance in our cooking lab menu before the term ends. We need an opportunity to experiment and learn with something more challenging, diverse, and delicious. Let us end our journey in FACS class with a sense of achievement and satisfaction, rather than a lingering taste of monotony. Please sign this petition to make our voices heard.
