For those who want to help with the Canadian Human Rights complaint I am filing, you will need to write two letters. One authorizing me to represent you, and the other explaining how the new regulations affects you and if you have had any issues (including having confusing or conflicting information given by airlines, having to send multiple proofs of having a service dog, or being denied completely), or if the new regulations have prevented you from flying because of anxiety, etc.

The airlines are giving conflicting information regarding what they require for proof of a service dogs.

The Canadian Transportation Act has changed the definition of a service dog to: "a dog that has been individually trained by an organization or person specializing in service dog training to perform a task to assist a person with a disability with a need related to their disability."

The airlines are interpreting a person specializing in service dog training as they see fit, discounting provincial certification, requiring a certified service dog trainer to write a letter, and no longer allowing service dogs in training unless they have been certified and are accompanied by a service dog trainer.

How does this affect you?

If your service dog is owner trained, you are not able to fly.

Even if your service dog is provincially certified, you are not able to fly.

If your service dog is still in training, you are not able to fly.

If you cannot show that your dog has been trained by a certified service dog trainer (they will not accept owner training at all) you are not able to fly.

Please sign the petition, share, and write your MP and MLA.
