The Savannah College of Art and Design’s new COVID-19 policy does not allow for excused absences for quarantine, and does not offer a way for students to keep up with course material during their quarantine. Not only could this be detrimental to a student’s education, as SCAD only allows 4 absences per class per quarter, but also will almost definitely result in students not reporting symptoms and faking negative tests in order to not fail a course through absences. 

Not only is this new policy unforgiving and cold towards students, it would have an undeniable negative effect on the education and health of students and their families. 

The purpose of this petition is to get the attention of Paula Wallace and SCAD’s Board of Trustees, and hopefully to influence them to change this deeply flawed policy change.
