I believe I've dug as deep as any human can dig into the roots of the climate crisis. I've reached out to thousands of people and listened carefully to their perspectives.
The answer is that we have a mass mental illness which impacts nearly everyone in western civilization. That probably includes almost everyone reading this message.
The message has really sunk home with the dissolution of almost all of my friendships since I became a climate activist who asked people to take responsibility for their personal carbon footprints.
My best friend Joe Butler and I are no longer friends. His wife Kathy Mount has given him orders on multiple occasion to excommunicate me and he has.
Why is this ?
Well, Joe and Kathy have an enormous carbon footprint. Joe KNOWS full well that a high carbon footprint is contributing to a mass genocide. Yet he can't stop because his wife insists on it. He doesn't have the courage to have a conversation with her and say "this is wrong".
He has told me that he knows he is doing something amoral and that he is prepared for the karmic response to his indifference to the mass genocide he is participating in.
I have children. Joe knows this.
I have asked Joe "what is the threshold at which you will alter your behavior" ? What will it take for him to discontinue his participation in a mass genocide. He can't answer it.
Joe knows the more about the climate crisis then I do. He knows what it will take to get him to change his behavior. But our 30 year friendship and my fight to save my children isn't enough leverage to get him to tell me.
The way I am going to try to get the answer from him and Kathy this question in public.
The climate crisis is not just the fault of the suppliers of fossil fuels. They are the drug dealers.
The consumers are equally responsible and that's US. WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CLIMATE AND THE MASS GENOCIDE WE ARE RACING HEADLONG INTO.
This is a massive mental illness that we must confront or we're going to go extinct as a species. I am anti-extinction. I'm going to try and protect my children from this massive mental illness. That is a biological imperative that is impossible to detach myself from.
We all need to understand what our priorities are. If our priority is to protect the future, we have to give up gratuitous recreation emissions. If you can't do that, you're on the wrong of a losing war.
The liberty to add unlimited CO2 to the atmosphere is going to end just as the liberty to own slaves 200 years ago had to end.

My old friend Joe Butler is acknowledging the immorality of he and his wife Kathy Mount. He is not denying that they are participating in something evil. But he and hundreds of millions of others have been doing so under the cover of anonymity.
I'm going to do my best to remove his anonymity and see if that's the thing that will stop them from freely engaging in evil. We are no longer friends. Anyone who claims the liberty to add unlimited CO2 to the atmosphere is a threat to my children. They are my enemies. This is what war looks like. If this is what it's going to take to protect my children ...... nothing will stop me from doing my best by them.
