Petition updateChange Leadership of the V.I. Public Libraries

New Year. Same Old Story.

Greetings Supporters!

Happy New Year 2023!

As the new year is here, the public libraries in the VI territory are still failing our communities!

Readers are Leaders!

Where are our leaders to demand the opening and operation of these VI Public Libraries, especially on St. John in the USVI?

We need to come together and demand that the leadership of the VI Public Libraries change. We need public library leadership to have a Library Degree as I was told I had to get one and I did.

The same standards that are expected of librarians need to be expected as leaders! Lead by example!

At the library protest in August 2022, demands were made and data collected revealed that the community of St. John wants and needs there a public library to be opened and operated by St. Johnians.

I make a plea that everyone with or without a degree apply for the position of librarian at Elaine I. Sprauve Library and Museum of Cultural Arts.

The leadership of the VI Public Library does not want to hire or rehire me because it seems that I shine a light on the misappropriation of funding for these beautiful gems that so desperately need to be polished by people who care and that will fight for what is right.

Thank you all for signing this petition and for forwarding it to friends and family for their signatures.

You can reach me at 940/222-9336 or drcarlamsewer@neguseducation.com for more information on how you can join our next protest being scheduled for February 2023 - Black History Month.

Have a wonderful blessed New Year 2023!

-Carla M. Sewer, Ph.D., CFLE, Librarian
