Change Leadership of the V.I. Public Libraries

Change Leadership of the V.I. Public Libraries
The Issue
"YES! Literacy goes up when kids have access to books! The back garden could be a community food garden may be managed by Sprauve school and named after a prominent STJ gardener. Thank you, Carla. The time is now!" - Kathy G,. from St. John
Only one public library in the territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands is OPEN - for the Blind and Disabled, however, the Elaine I, Sprauve Public Library has been closed since 2019 and still does not have disability access. The newly hired director does not have an MLS degree or experience nor does the Commissioner of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources who oversees these public libraries. Change in leadership needs to happen. A Library Advisory Board or Board of Trustees needs to be in place to oversee these public libraries and keep them open.
