Greetings and thank you for all your support to "Change the Leadership" of the VI public libraries before it is too late!
As of today, October 6, 2022, the Elaine I. Sprauve Library and Museum of Cultural Arts is still CLOSED, due to construction and staffing issues while the Division of Libraries Archives and Museums continues to lead these jewels into the ground.
On August 27, 2022, the community of St. John held a protest at the Elaine I. Library and Museum of Cultural Arts with over 20 people attending to support their local community library. Surveys were collected (Thank you Erin Lieb), books were donated and given away, and a storytime session was presented to the children and families in attendance. Garbage was also collected from the surrounding area as a clean-up of our library protest.
A moment of silence for Elaine Sprauve was given and I am thankful for everyone's participation.
We were told this library will be opened this year, which has not yet happened. What is really going on? Inadequate leadership is what is going on. When you hire your friends with no credentials, this is what happens to our community - a lack of potential and progress.
I am pleading with everyone to share this petition and continue fighting for our rights to have a public library in our community that is functioning with credentialed leaders with oversight and accountability.
St. John needs its own library director! St. John needs our library!
St. John needs are going unmet!
St. John is our home and our future is in our hands.
