Change in Insurance law

The Issue

I believe that consumers are being unfairly treated by insurance companies, and we call for urgent reforms to address these issues. As customers, we are required by law to purchase insurance, yet in many cases, we are losing money on policies that fail to provide the protection they promise. Insurance should serve as a safeguard, not as a source of frustration or financial loss.

Key Issues:
Unfair Policy Cancellations: If even a small, non-material piece of information is incorrect on a policy—often due to an unintentional error—our coverage can be canceled. This leaves us without protection after years of paying premiums, and we often have no recourse to recover the money we’ve invested.
Excessive Fees for Policy Changes: Life circumstances change, and it’s only natural that our insurance policies might need to be updated accordingly. However, we are forced to pay additional fees for every minor change, which is both unreasonable and unfair.
Penalization for Non-Fault Accidents: When we are involved in an accident that isn’t our fault, our insurance premiums still increase, and we lose our no-claim bonuses. This practice unfairly punishes policyholders who are not at fault, simply to benefit insurance companies.
Annual Premium Increases: Insurance payments are rising every year, often without justification. This places an increasing financial burden on consumers, who are already paying significant amounts for coverage.
Restrictions on Additional Drivers: Adding another driver to a policy, such as a family member or friend, requires additional payments. Why can't insurance be based on the car itself, allowing anyone with permission to drive it without extra costs?
Our Demands:
We urge lawmakers to reform insurance laws to protect consumers from these unjust practices. Specifically, we request:

Prohibition of Fees for Policy Changes: Insurers should not be allowed to charge for routine updates to policies, especially when these changes are necessitated by normal life events.
Protection Against Unfair Cancellations: Policies should not be canceled due to minor, unintentional errors in the information provided by the policyholder. Small mistakes should not be grounds for denying coverage or canceling a policy.
Fair Treatment After Non-Fault Accidents: Insurance companies should not be allowed to penalize customers for accidents that are not their fault. No-claim bonuses should be protected in these situations, and premiums should not increase as a result.
Reasonable and Transparent Pricing: Annual increases in premiums should be regulated and justified, with clear explanations provided to policyholders.
Flexibility in Policy Coverage: Consumers should have the option to insure their vehicles in a way that allows any qualified driver to be covered without additional costs.
