Change Facebook's Default Comment Setting

Change Facebook's Default Comment Setting
Das Problem
It's incredibly annoying and absolutely astounding that Facebook's "most relevant" comment filter has been around as long as it has. This feature brings very little value at the cost of incredible frustration. It doesn't feel intuitive at all and makes doom scrolling feel worse than it already does. As users, we're often forced to dig for comments that Facebook's algorithm decides aren't "relevant," even when these comments add valuable perspectives to discussions. This arbitrary hiding of discussions diminishes the platform's potential for genuine interaction and understanding.
Facebook, as one of the largest social media platforms, promotes itself as a venue for sharing and engaging with a broad spectrum of voices. However, when algorithms selectively hide comments, the platform inadvertently silences those voices, disrupting open communication. The "most relevant" comment section should be an option, not a default that conceals diverse opinions under layers of algorithmic decision-making.
The simple act of changing the default comment order setting can make a significant difference. Either Facebook should not use the "most relevant" option as the default, or if it remains as such, it should solely reorder comments by priority without completely hiding any. Truthful communication should not be a treasure hunt.
We urge Facebook to consider the user's experience and value genuine interaction over algorithm-driven comment curation. By making comment filtering transparent and optional, Facebook can reclaim its purpose as a facilitator of open dialogue.
Stand with us in asking Facebook to modify its "most relevant" comment filter settings to ensure that no voice goes unheard. Your support can help initiate this change for a more inclusive and straightforward interaction on the platform.
Please sign this petition to advocate for a Facebook experience that values openness and ease of engagement over algorithmic control. Let's ensure that all voices can be seen and heard in the order that respects the diversity of perspectives.
