Demonstrate solidarity with the people of Ukraine by renaming Melville Street - home of Scotland’s Russian Consulate -Zelenskyy Street. 

Scotland already has a great track record in this type of solidarity. In the 1980s Glasgow’s St George’s Place was renamed Nelson Mandela Place due to its position as the home of the Apartheid South African consulate. 

Following the invasion of Ukraine and the bravery of its people in standing up to Putin, this is a meaningful act of solidarity the City of Edinburgh Council could do - especially as the Office for the UK Government’s Secretary of State for Scotland is also on Melville Street.

It feels like there’s too little everyday Scots can do to help our fellow Ukrainians against the horrors of Putin’s invasion (although there’s a great list here), but here’s one action of solidarity that will only take you seconds.
