Change Dale Lane SW to Battle Lane SW in Honor of Tim and Beverly Battle

Change Dale Lane SW to Battle Lane SW in Honor of Tim and Beverly Battle
The Issue
My name is Will Turner and for many years, I had the privilege of knowing and living close to two truly exceptional community pillars, Tim and Beverly Battle. I write this petition with a heart full of respect and a deep sense of loss for these recently deceased residents, who played a crucial role in our community for over 45 years.
The Battle family, through their in-home hair salon business, became the gathering spot for our community. This salon was more than just a business – it was a judge-free space where residents could share joys, sorrows and triumphs, forging a strong sense of community.
Beyond the salon, Tim and Beverly operated the area's only food pantry and candy store, reminding us to serve and to celebrate at all times. Their commitment to philanthropy extended to looking after our prime-age citizens, always ensuring they were cared for.
Changing the street name from Dale Lane SW to Battle Lane SW is not only a tribute to the Battles' legacy but serves as a daily reminder to the values they instilled in us: enrichment of community, empowerment through service, and embracing the joy in daily life.
As a witness to the immense positive impact of their efforts, I engaged with our councilwoman, Marci Overstreet, in hopes of making this idea a reality. By signing this petition, you're endorsing the renaming of a portion of our street to Battle Lane SW and ensuring that henceforth, every passerby is reminded of the commune nurturers that were Tim and Beverly Battle. Please, add your voice to honor their legacy. Sign this petition today.
This name change is only for the portion of Dale Lane SW that is off of Barge Rd. if you reside on this portion you will need to change your address on your accounts which is a inconvenience I understand, but a small one compared to what they gave this community. Also ask yourself, who is Dale Lane named after anyway?
Thank you for your support.
