Mary Norwood is an American businesswoman and politician known for her significant contributions to Atlanta's civic landscape. She is an independent politician serving as a member of the Atlanta City Council. Norwood ran for mayor of Atlanta in both 2009 and 2017, progressing to runoff elections each time but ultimately losing narrowly to competitors Kasim Reed and Keisha Lance Bottoms. She held citywide positions on the Atlanta City Council from 2002 to 2010 and again from 2014 to 2018. Mary Norwood resides in the Tuxedo Park neighborhood within the Buckhead area of Atlanta.
