Further to my last message, I wanted to let you know that having collated the data from the various expert sources, we are closer to changing our rules to allow members working overseas to maintain their accreditation and registration. The full analysis has given assurance to some of the key people who had raised valid concerns about a rule change.
As indicated last time, our intention is now to put a paper to our Practitioner Accreditation and Registration Committee (PARC) with an updated set of guidelines, allowing overseas working. This will go to them in advance of their meeting on the 14th August with a view to getting sign off by them, and then the Board of BABCP at their meeting on the 12th September 2024.
It would be wrong to assume how the discissions will conclude at those meetings, therefore I can't offer an absolute guarantee that everything will progress by those dates. However, I am now content that we have done a sufficiently wide-ranging and robust risk analysis to demonstrate that a rule change would be appropriate, and such a move does now seem to have broad support within the relevant internal stakeholders.
While I understand this timeline will be a source of frustration for some members already living overseas, I would remind them of the provisions already in place, such as leave of absence being agreed. While the above process is playing out the Accreditation Team will consider additional temporary extensions on current provision. Any affected members should contact the Accreditation Team directly for more information.
I will keep you updated as things progress, best wishes
