In 2012, Jamie Rosemond, my brother died as a result of a tragic accident.  Jamie was 25 years old and diagnosed with autism and schizophrenia.  He was living in a therapeutic, residential group facility.  Due to lack of proper supervision and insufficient security measures, Jamie left the facility unaccompanied by a staff member and was hit by multiple cars.  I would never want another family to suffer the heartache that my family has experienced as a result of Jamie's needless death.  I am pleading for change! Change so that all residential facilities are required to have cameras in the common area of the facility.  Change that all residential facilities are required to have working alarms and locks on all doors and windows.  Change so that staff members are required to participate in random drug testing on a monthly basis.  Change so that adequate initial training and continuous training is provided to all staff members.  Won't you join me in asking our legislators to help us protect those of our population who cannot speak up to ask for these desperately needed changes?
