The school has been forced to yet again take a position on the issue, because of my recent email. I do not doubt that the school’s political position is one of nondisclosure, and neutrality. In a previous article published in the Watertown times on December 12th, 2015 President Esterberg stated, “any actions that are related to individuals, I don’t think it’s appropriate to respond to them in a public forum.” Obviously the school has refused to make any announcement of a change at SUNY Potsdam at this time due to liability, privacy, or other concerns. As of 2:34 pm the school’s Communications and Government Relations Associate Alexandra Jacobs Wilke said, “As of today there has been no change in title for either of them.” The school made no correction to the union relationships, and “as for whether Robbins and Morris may be reassigned in the future, Jacobs said she could not speculate.” I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of the statements given to me by my sources, and these events could still come to fruition. As for the comments that the “rumors” may have stemmed from meetings with students is false. The information came from three distinct, and reliable faculty sources. The school may have taken this stance currently, and it disappoints many. I hope that one day the school will decide to publicly support, and listen to it’s students. I look forward to reading the public report on the Office of Student Conduct at the end of January.
