The Issue

As a faithful Apple user, and also a cybersecurity professional, I have witnessed firsthand the real impacts and aftereffects of data breaches. Privacy is a fundamental right and with technology becoming a significant part of our lives, this right extends to our data and personal information.

Apple is recognized for its robust encryption and advanced data protection standards, which have given its numerous users worldwide a sense of security and assurance. However, changes to this advanced data protection are concerning not only for me but for millions of other users who daily entrust their personal and private information to Apple.

In the UK, cybercrime incidents were estimated to be 4.7 Million from June 2019 to June 2020 (Office for National Statistics). That's almost 7% of the population falling victim to various breaches, from minor inconveniences to serious violations of their personal lives. Secure devices and platforms like Apple play an essential role in reducing this proportion.

Therefore, we request a robust conversation about these changes with the UK government. We request that they ensure the protection of Apple users' data in the UK and guarantee our fundamental rights are not compromised. This petition seeks to drive a collaborative effort for better reforms and strength in the encryption provided by Apple in the UK. With advanced data protection being used
