Challenge Tuskegee Election Results: Do The Right Thing

Challenge Tuskegee Election Results: Do The Right Thing
The Issue
We are here as an engaged citizens of Tuskegee deeply invested in the democratic process and the future of our city. Recent elections have surfaced troubling discrepancies that cannot be overlooked if we cherish the integrity of our electoral system in TUSKEGEE.
Before you continue, we thought that it would be best if we spoke to a couple of things up front:
Voting locally is the foundation of our community’s voice, our ability to shape our future, and the guardrail against corruption. And because it matters this much, no one—especially candidates or public officials—should feel offended when citizens step up to ensure that everything in our elections is done fairly, orderly, and lawfully.
This petition (and other actions that many of you have seen or heard about) is not an attack. It is not about embarrassing anyone, incriminating anyone, or tearing down individuals. Quite the opposite. It is about strengthening trust in our process and making sure the people’s voice is respected, honored, and counted properly.
The Mission of The Petition:
• To ensure that our election process was conducted fairly, lawfully, and without corruption.
• To uphold transparency and accountability in local democracy.
• To encourage greater community engagement in civic and political life.
• To push for improvements so that future elections in Tuskegee and Macon County are more efficient, reliable, and accessible for all citizens.
What This Petition Is Not:
• It is not a personal attack against any candidate or official. U
• It is not an attempt to embarrass or shame anyone.
• It is not about partisanship or division.
At the end of the day, democracy only works when people trust the process. When we act together to guard that process, we do so out of love for our community, not out of malice toward individuals.
Tuskegee and Macon County have a long, proud history in the fight for civil rights and voting rights. We honor that legacy best when we hold ourselves to the highest standards of fairness and accountability.
Let’s make this a turning point; not just a moment of concern, but a spark that leads to more of us being engaged, showing up, and protecting the power of our vote.
🗳️ Because every voice here at home is worth fighting for.
On August 26, 2025 and since that day, numerous reports indicate that wrong ballots were issued to residents, such as voters living in District 4 being forced to cast their votes in District and District 5 voters having to vote in District 2. This is a glaring error that undermines the very foundation of fair elections.
Moreover, some voters did not receive the provisional ballots they were entitled to, depriving them of their right to participate in deciding our city's leadership. Even more alarming is the report that certain districts had more ballots turned in than the number of signatures validating those ballots. This discrepancy raises significant concerns about the authenticity of the election results.
For the sake of Tuskegee's integrity and the accurate representation of its people's voices, it is imperative that we challenge these election results. We call for a special election for both the mayoral and city council positions to rectify these issues and restore trust in our electoral processes. Every voice counts, and every vote must be counted correctly to ensure a rightful and honest election. Every citizen should demand transparency, fairness, and integrity in Tuskegee's governance.
We, the undersigned citizens of Tuskegee, Alabama, formally challenge the results of the August 26, 2026 municipal elections for the offices of Mayor and City Council Seats 2 through 5. (We note that Council Seat 1 was unopposed and is not in question.)
We seek that a special election be declared due to the following:
1. Lack of Public Engagement and Transparency in Redistricting
The effort to involve all citizens and fully inform them of the recent redistricting process lacked efficacy. With such a short timeframe between the change of government vote and the municipal election, citizens were not adequately notified, educated, or engaged in a process that directly determined their right to vote fairly.
2. Confusion Regarding Voting Districts
In the weeks leading up to the election, many concerned citizens discovered troubling discrepancies between the official State of Alabama voter site and the new Tuskegee redistricting maps. These discrepancies created uncertainty about which district voters lived in and which ballot to receive.
3. Election Day Errors
On Election Day, dozens of citizens reported arriving to the polling place (Tuskegee Municipal Complex) only to be told that the district they lived in was not the one assigned to them under the new maps. Many were issued incorrect ballots, resulting in two major violations:
Voters were deprived of the chance to cast ballots for their rightful district representative.
Wrong ballots inflated vote totals in districts where these voters did not reside.
4. Software Errors and Questionable Ballots
There has been admission of software errors, coupled with reports of questionable ballots being accepted. These irregularities cast further doubt on the integrity of the election and its certified results.
Taken together, these findings are deeply disturbing and represent a fundamental breach of the trust citizens must have in their electoral process. The right to vote, and to have that vote counted accurately, is the foundation of our democracy. Tuskegee cannot move forward under the shadow of a flawed and disputed election.
Therefore, we, the undersigned, respectfully call upon the proper authorities to:
1. Declare the August 26, 2025 election results for Mayor and Council Seats 2–5 invalid, and Schedule a special election to ensure all Tuskegee citizens are afforded a fair, transparent, and accurate electoral process.
2. “The Mayor and Council to collaborate with civic organizations, youth councils, and other stakeholders to review past processes for redrawing district lines, and to develop a comprehensive plan for community engagement and input, preventing misinformation and ensuring maximum transparency and prompting maximum participation in future elections and government activities.
Respectfully Submitted
