We, the undersigned, call for immediate accountability following the deeply concerning actions of Dr Bharat Pankhania, Mayor of Bath.

Sharing and amplifying claims that a violent attack on emergency ambulances was a “false flag operation,” alongside comments targeting the Jewish community, is unacceptable. Such rhetoric risks fuelling division, spreading misinformation, and undermining trust in public office.

Leaders are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, responsibility, and respect for all communities. When those standards are not met, it is right that the public speaks out.

While suspension from his party is a step, it is not enough to restore public confidence. We therefore call for Dr Bharat Pankhania to step down as Mayor and councillor. His attendance at Council meetings and care for residents is appaling. He does not even checks his council emails and says to write to him on his personal email as he has no time for council emails.
