Hi folks, Many thanks to Judy Cutler, Director and Co-Founder of the National Museum of American Illustration - foremost scholar and collector of Norman Rockwell - who stated in her public comment on this petition: "I am Judy Cutler, Museum Director; and my husband Laurence S. Cutler and I, are Co-Founders of the National Museum of American Illustration (NMAI) in Newport, Rhode Island, USA. We strongly and absolutely support Ms. Abigail Rockwell and the entire Norman Rockwell family in their righteous quest to correct injustices done to Abigail’s grandfather Norman Rockwell’s reputation and outrageous damages to his hard-earned legacy. Rockwell’s career itself has been damaged by the “author” Deborah Soloman who incorrectly and unfairly has portrayed him and his luminous career in her book entitled American Mirror, The Life and Art of Norman Rockwell. While, I never had the pleasure of personally meeting Norman Rockwell, I have dealt with his artworks, his models, his family, and many collectors of his art works, et al… for nearly 50 years. With all his many art works that have passed through my hands, and our own large Museum collection of his artworks-the second largest Norman Rockwell Collection, as well as my knowing his family members and many other serious collectors of Rockwell’s art works, I feel compelled to speak out and to sincerely support the Rockwell family at this time. There are many aspects of Rockwell’s lifestyle and his personal friendships and business contacts, yet as the greatest of all the American illustrators, I myself have never come across any evidence whatsoever that supports any of those most absurdly wild claims in Deborah Solomon’s so-called “biography.” There are indeed some rather sensationalized speculations seemingly conceived to simply sell more books. Consequently, I sincerely hope the Norman Rockwell Museum staff and its Board Members will see the light and properly honor Norman Rockwell by removing this absurd so-called biography from their Museum Shop’s book inventory. I am hopeful that the Norman Rockwell Museum will join us by supporting the Norman Rockwell family in their serious quest to protect the real, actual legacy of that great American Illustrator. The Norman Rockwell Museum as his namesake will hopefully stand strongly by Norman Rockwell and the Rockwell family." -- Judy Cutler, Museum Director, National Museum of American Illustration (NMAI), Vernon Court, 492 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, Rhode Island, 02840 Please continue to share our petition and get the word out. We have truly created a symphony of "sweet justice". The Norman Rockwell Museum has already removed the Solomon book from the front welcoming hall and from their website, and only a few, lonely copies remain on a bottom shelf in the gift shop. We made real progress. I still haven't heard from anyone at the Norman Rockwell Museum about the matter. Our decisions and our actions are our legacy. They reveal our true character. Infinite thanks to each and every one of you for caring and taking action. Warm wishes, Abigail
