Leading Norman Rockwell experts and scholars around the country have signed our petition and joined our chorus!
Judy Cutler and Laurence Cutler, Co-Founders of the National Museum of American Illustration in Rhode Island
Michael Waldner, head of Curtis Licensing (Saturday Evening Post)
Roger Reed, leading illustration expert, Director of Illustration House
Robert Berridge, one of the foremost scholars and trusted historians on the life of Norman Rockwell for 40 years
Lena Tabori, editor who worked at publisher Harry N. Abrams, Inc. and knew Norman Rockwell personally, published many Rockwell books
Susan E. Meyer, author of "Norman Rockwell's People" who knew Rockwell and conducted in-depth interviews with many of Rockwell's closest friends and colleagues
Mark Kramer, founder of the Nieman Program for Narrative Journalism at Harvard, who personally knew Rockwell
Among many others - including close friends and neighbors of Norman Rockwell.
Roger Reed of Illustration House recently commented:
"This is not about taking sides in a battle over Norman Rockwell's artistic legitimacy. I'm signing this petition because I'm taking a stand against the irresponsible scholarship and shoddy biography that we see in Solomon's book. I've written about this at length in an article in the second issue of the Journal of Illustration, in 2014. For the Norman Rockwell Museum to support the book as free speech is one thing, but to promote the book as if it contained revelatory facts is quite another. The Museum must come clean about this."
Almost 1.7K signatures! Our symphony of "sweet justice" is building thanks to all of you. Every one of you has made an important contribution to our cause by signing our petition. And the passionate outcry of your comments is more than heartening.
Warmest regards,
Abigail
