The Issue

Having lived in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee all my life, I remember a time when our community felt like a safe, close-knit neighborhood. We slept outside as kids and our parents left the doors unlocked and the keys in their cars without the slightest bit of worry. Today, however, that sense of comfort and peace is being rapidly overtaken by rampant overdevelopment, making Wenatchee feel significantly more crowded and unfamiliar.

The charm and tranquility of our small city are under threat due to excessive housing developments. Our roads are congested, traffic issues are increasing, and the serene environment many of us cherished is swiftly disappearing. This overcrowding doesn't just inconvenience our daily lives; it fundamentally alters the character of Wenatchee.

While development is a part of growth, unrestrained expansion isn't sustainable. It burdens our existing infrastructure and diminishes our quality of life. The allure of tax revenue shouldn't overpower the need for balanced urban planning that respects the character and limits of our city.

We need to prioritize smart, controlled growth, protecting the essence of our community while accommodating necessary development. This means urging our local government to reconsider the pace and nature of new housing projects.

By signing this petition, you help urge the authorities to halt the current wave of overdevelopment and engage in a more thoughtful planning strategy that preserves what makes Wenatchee unique and livable. Let’s protect the future of Wenatchee for generations to come. Sign this petition to express your support in safeguarding our community against unchecked development.
