CBSE: Revert the Sudden Language Rules and Allow Grade 9/10 Students to Keep Their Chosen
CBSE: Revert the Sudden Language Rules and Allow Grade 9/10 Students to Keep Their Chosen
The Issue
To: The Chairman, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and the Management of Bal Bhawan School
We, the affected students and parents, are writing this petition to demand an immediate reversal of the sudden changes made to the language subject structure for Class 9 and 10.
Recently, new mandates have forced students to take two native Indian languages, making subjects like Hindi, Urdu, or Sanskrit compulsory, while pushing foreign and classical languages like Arabic and French into an "additional" category.
For students who have already spent 5 to 6 years dedicating themselves to Arabic or French, this sudden rule shift right before our Board Exam years is completely unfair and disruptive.
Why we are demanding a reversal:
Unfair Academic Burden: Expecting students to pick up entirely new native Indian languages, master their scripts, and prepare for board-level exams in just one or two years is unrealistic and creates massive academic distress.
Disregard for Years of Hard Work: Moving our primary language of six years to an "additional" slot means our hard work is being sidelined, forcing us to take on a crushing workload of four languages just to keep studying what we know.
Bring Back the Old System: The previous system allowed students the flexibility to choose their primary languages based on their future career goals and personal strengths.
Our Demand to CBSE and School Management:
We demand that CBSE roll back this sudden enforcement for the current batches of 9th and 10th graders. Revert the rule to how it was before, and allow students who have been tracking a specific language for years to graduate and give their Board Exams under the original, flexible system.
