Stop Mount Allison University from cutting the funding to Women's and Gender Studies

Mount Allison University (Sackville, NB) has recently made the decision to completely cut funding for Women's and Gender Studies classes. This leaves countless students with no minor to show for the hard work they've put towards their studies, and is a blatant act of inequality and misogyny.

Education on subjects covered by WGST is a huge step forward in the equality for women and other oppressed groups. This choice was made solely on a financial basis, failing to recognize the social ramifications connected to this decision.

"The women’s and gender studies program at Mount Allison honours the memory of Grace Annie Lockhart. Lockhart received her Bachelor of Science degree from Mount Allison in 1875 — the first Bachelor’s degree awarded to a woman in the British Empire." This is disrespectful on many levels, and needs to be stopped before it's too late.
