Catch it before We're Dying Young -Stop Denying Young Women Mammograms

The Issue

I was 33 when I was diagnosed with Stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer after being misdiagnosed for two years.

I was told I was too young for a mammogram. I was told the rash on my breast was eczema.

By the time anyone listened, it was almost too late.

This petition isn’t just about lowering the age — it’s about ending the age requirement altogether.

If you have symptoms, a family history, or simply know your body, you deserve access to screening — without being told to wait for a number on a chart.

Too many young women — especially Black women — are being denied, dismissed, and diagnosed at later stages because of outdated guidelines.

We’re calling on the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, the Department of Health and Human Services, and national lawmakers to:

1️⃣ Remove the mammogram age minimum.

2️⃣ Make mammogram access based on need, symptoms, and family history — not age.

3️⃣ Require all insurers to cover mammograms when medically indicated, regardless of age.

Because early detection only helps when doctors listen — and when patients are allowed to get screened in the first place.

Sign and share to help us catch it before we’re dying young.
