Don't get too excited yet, there is still a lot of work left to do to get the skatepark project started. We have not forgotten the City Commission's position; "...if there is a skatepark in the Parks Master Plan, we'll start working on it." NOW its time for all of us to hold them to it. Make plans to come to the Casselberry City Commission Meeting on July 24th to say just that, "LETS BUILD A CASSELBERRY SKATEPARK!" A few of the things that you wont see in the Parks Master Plan: Casselberry's current level of service for skateparks is ZERO. Casselberry should have at MINIMUM a 10K square foot skatepark as a city of 30K residents. Current trends stated in the Parks Master Plan don't mention that skateboarding and skateparks are trending upwards in lots of communities. In Florida alone, we've seen many skateparks planned and built over the last 2+ years. Its time for Casselberry to do the same. We should not have to travel to other communities to have a healthy and positive choice for recreation. We hope to see you at the meeting next Monday, July 24th, 2017. If you cant make it, PLEASE send the city commission an email telling them you know there is a skatepark in the plan and you want action! We want to build community.
