Carrigmore Woods & Surrounds Parking

The Issue

Hi all, residents of Carrigmore Woods, many other surrounding apartment blocks and the nearby housing estates are aiming to highlight ongoing parking pressures in the Citywest area. Many apartment developments in Citywest do not have allocated on-site parking, which has resulted in apartment residents parking on nearby streets within the surrounding housing estates. Parking in some areas is resulting in residents being clamped. And while parking in other housing estates is lawful and considered public right of way, the increased demand for on-street parking has understandably caused frustration and tension for homeowners in the housing estates.

This situation is not the result of poor behaviour by residents, but rather a lack of adequate parking provision associated with the apartment developments. Without intervention, this issue risks continuing to strain community relations and create an unsustainable arrangement for everyone involved.

Through this petition, we are jointly requesting that the local authority and housing association review the current parking situation and work with residents to identify practical, fair, and long-term solutions. These may include reviewing parking provision, identifying nearby public or shared parking options, or considering appropriate parking management measures. Our aim is to support a cooperative resolution that respects the needs of all residents, and helps maintain a positive and respectful local community.
