Buying a car from CarMax and other unscrupulous auto dealers just got even riskier. Here's why. The federal agency that should be protecting consumers voted 2-0 to allow CarMax to get away with false and deceptive advertising that its so-called "certified" cars are "safe" and "repaired for safety" and passed a "rigorous inspection" -- without bothering to get the hazardous safety recall defects repaired. Here's a recent news report about an earlier deal the FTC cut with GM and a couple other dealership chains. The FTC just finalized the same rotten deal with CarMax. We think this is nuts, and are suing the FTC to get these deals overturned. Thank you!! to everyone who sent comments opposing this horrible sell-out. The FTC basically ignored what all of us said. But we hope that a court of law will take notice, and reverse the FTC. "Safe" should mean just that. Safe.
