Keyless cars offer convenience, but at a potentially very steep price. Federal safety investigators link at least 12 deaths to the devices. Deaths caused by poisonous carbon monoxide gas, generated when the cars keep running -- even after drivers exit and think they are shut off. People with hearing loss may not hear the warning chimes. People can also get distracted by attention-grabbers like kids or dogs, and not notice the chimes.
As if this hazard wasn't bad enough, CarMax is deliberately selling Chevy Volts that are being recalled because they can keep running and also cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Read more about this dangerous safety defect:
