Granted that the Carlsbad Unified School District has made many strides towards creating a better and safer environment at our schools, the current dress code enforced at both Carlsbad High School and Sage Creek High School has left many female students feeling targeted and offended. While basic guidelines such as, "No nudity," "No bathing suits," "No images of drugs or alcohol," and "No offensive content," are important to include, all other clothing guidelines create a sexist culture at our schools, and have effects detrimental to the learning environment. In this petition, we are formally asking the CUSD to work with staff and students in an effort to revise our current dress code into one which we all view as fair and logical.
