Laurie Wilson started this petition to State Representative Carl R. Albrecht and

Utah Animal Protection
Utah House of Representatives

I petition all those with means and ability to change the animal laws in this state to act. The State of Utah is currently 43rd in the nation for our animal laws.

There is no regulation on vaccines, and the purchase and sale of domestic animals in our state. Pet stores are able to sell puppies and other animals from animal mills. These animals have severe genetic disabilities as well as viruses, anemia, and dehydration. They are sold too young and not properly weaned from the mother which causes behavioral issues.

I ask the lawmakers of Utah to consider the following law additions or changes for starters:
1.
Require the Parvo Virus vaccine to be administered as the rabies vaccine. Require it be administered by a licensed Veterinarian or Veterinarian Technician.
(This was included in HB 0327 that was voted down in part because some of the committee members are breeders).
2. Ban the sale of all domestic animals in pet stores or by private breeders with out a license.
3. Require a breeders license to ensure that breeding is done properly and correctly. This will ensure proper weaning and genetic competence and provide the best possible future for the animal.

I want to get the conversation going on our animal laws. These may not be the final result, but any change is good change. I ask all the animal lovers of Utah to contact your State Representatives and demand change. It is time that we put our animals above our pocket books. Thank you!
