Pontcanna and Llandaff Fields are one of Cardiff’s most popular green spaces to exercise and socialise. The Taff Trail which runs through, is also one of the most used commuter routes for cyclists and university students.

Despite its importance to the local and wider communities, users are forced to travel through in complete darkness. This can be as early as 4-5pm during the winter months, meaning that those without space to exercise at home must do so in the unlit area. Now more than ever these public spaces should be made as safe as possible for everyone.

Lambeth Council have acted promptly to increase solar powered lighting throughout the Clapham Common following the tragic death of Sarah Everard’s this month. 

Therefore the purpose of this petition is to highlight that Cardiff Council and the Welsh Government should take urgent action to do the same. Calling a friend to share your location is not always enough.
