Cap Medical Bills on Cruise Ships

Cap Medical Bills on Cruise Ships
The Issue
My daughter, Anya, recently had a medical episode on a Norwegian Cruise Lines ship, and we were hit with an exorbitant bill of $7,600 for just 12 hours of treatment. This cost was more than the entire cruise itself. Anya was administered two Valium and had a set of X-rays taken. To put this into perspective, she later required a three-night hospital stay on land where she was thoroughly tested for a range of issues, costing only $5,400 in total. We were billed $4,000 on my account not even after 5 hours being disembarked. This is at the same time I am trying to get my wife over to be with our daughter.
Cruise lines are renowned for offering a luxurious travel experience, but they are committing daylight robbery with their outrageous medical fees. The treatment of passengers facing medical emergencies at sea should not be a profit-making endeavor. Health services on cruise ships should not overshadow the cost of the voyage itself.
This petition aims to cap medical expenses at sea so that they do not exceed half the cost of the cruise fare. By ensuring that medical care remains reasonably priced, we can protect travelers from the financial burdens that currently accompany emergency healthcare services on cruises.
Cruise lines should take responsibility and set a reasonable cap on treatment costs. A fair policy would not only enhance their reputation but also provide peace of mind for all passengers. Let's call for transparency and fairness in cruise ship medical billing practices.
Sign the petition to demand justice and financial protection for travelers experiencing medical emergencies at sea. Your support can help bring an end to these exploitative charges and foster a travel environment where passenger welfare is prioritized over profit margins.
