During the weekend 29/30 October two elderly disabled people told this campaign their story, one about thirty years of controlling neighbours complaining to the council. This time when he made a simple change to his antenna, the response and attitude of the council was threatening. The other who is receiving anonymous calling cards related to his activity and who also struggles with his neighbours attitude to him. Having read similar accounts on social media some relating to neighbours using councils as a proxy to bully people into taking down lawful antenna we decided to study and report the issues. Especially after Armando's difficulties in his new place highlighted the lack of knowledge and heavy handed approach of council officials. An exchange of emails between the campaign and the RSGB confirmed their views and we were able to work out a strategy. Our campaign report will be updated and posted soon.
In the mean time we opened a complaint to OFCOM today because we think re-broadcasting the treatment Armando received infringes his right to be forgotten and could lead to further trouble in the future. This is a new complaint after direct approaches, were ignored and a previous complaint made by the RSGB failed because not enough people complained.
If you are thinking of doing the same, or supporting our complaint these are the details. Complaint Reference 00489605
Programme Title: Nightmare Neighbours Next Door Series - Series 5 Episode 8.
Last shown on 27 10 2017
Subject:
The right to be forgotten
Details:
The account of Mr Martins trouble with his nightmare neighbours is no longer valid as Mr Martins has moved on in his life but this is not reported. He has moved house and has a right to be forgotten therefore we think showing repeats which are out of date infringe his rights and may impact him in his new setting.
