Cancel the Edison Talmadge Land Deal – Stop Risking Taxpayer Money

Recent signers:

The Issue

The residents and taxpayers of Edison Township strongly oppose the proposed $9 million Talmadge land acquisition by the Edison Board of Education.

At a time when taxpayers are already being asked to support a school budget requiring steep tax hike , this decision exposes our community to massive and unnecessary financial risk.

🚨 This Is NOT a $9M Deal

This is only the beginning.

👉 After purchasing the land, millions more will be required for development

👉 Construction, infrastructure, and compliance costs will follow

👉 These additional costs will directly increase the burden on taxpayers

This is not a $9M decision

this is a multi-million-dollar long-term liability.

❗ No Clear Plan

Even more concerning:

There is no defined or approved plan for how this land will be used.

There is:

❌ No blueprint

❌ No committed plan

❌ No clarity

⚠️ High-Risk Gamble with Taxpayer Money

Critical unknowns remain:

What if only 75% or less of the land is developable?
What if environmental restrictions reduce usable land even further?
What if significant portions cannot be built on at all?

👉 In that case, taxpayers will:

Overpay for land that cannot be fully used
Then spend millions more to develop what remains

Result: We lose twice.

❓ Serious Red Flags

Why was this property previously valued far lower, yet now being acquired for ~$9M?
Why are taxpayers being asked to support this without clear answers?

⚠️ The Reality

This is how taxpayers get trapped:

➡️ Buy first

➡️ Discover problems later

➡️ Spend more to fix them

➡️ Taxpayers pay the price

📢 Our Demand

👉 IMMEDIATE CANCELLATION OF THE TALMADGE LAND ACQUISITION
