Cancel the Dan Andrews Statue" Petition
The issue
UPDATE: A New Premier. A New Opportunity.
Victoria has a new Premier, and for the first time, there is genuine uncertainty over whether the taxpayer-funded statue of former Premier Daniel Andrews will ever be unveiled.
New Premier Ben Carroll has so far stopped short of committing to putting the statue on public display. That's encouraging—but it's not enough.
- The statue has not been cancelled.
- That's why every signature still matters.
If enough Victorians speak up, the Government can make the right decision: cancel the statue, honour any existing contractual obligations if necessary, and ensure taxpayers are not forced to celebrate one of Victoria's most divisive political figures.
Please keep sharing this petition with your family, friends and community groups. The bigger this petition becomes, the harder it will be for any government to ignore.
Petition
We call on the Victorian Government to cancel the planned taxpayer-funded statue of former Premier Daniel Andrews. A monument to Daniel Andrews is not something that unites Victoria. It divides it. Many Victorians continue to live with the consequences of decisions made during his time in office.
Others remain deeply concerned about the legacy of debt, cost blowouts, integrity issues, the health system, and the long-term impact of policies introduced under his government. Taxpayer money should not be spent honouring such a divisive political figure.
Why I Created This Petition
When this campaign began, the statue appeared inevitable. Former Premier Jacinta Allan, a close friend and Labor Socialist Left faction ally of Dan Andrews seemed determined to insult millions of Victorians by spending their money on a statue of this most divisive man.
Since then, Victorians have added their names through this and the Parliamentary petition, sending a clear message that many people do not believe Daniel Andrews deserves this honour.
Public pressure has changed the conversation.
Now, with a new Premier in office, Victorians have another opportunity to stop the statue before it is installed. This petition is not about rewriting history. It is about ensuring that public monuments reflect the values and views of the broader Victorian community.
If you agree that taxpayer money should not be used to honour Daniel Andrews with a permanent public statue, please sign the petition and share it with others.
Together, we can show the Victorian Government that this statue does not have the public support it claims.
