CANCEL FLOCK CONTRACTS IN PORTERVILLE, CA #LETSGETFLOCKOUTOFPORTERVILLE
The Issue
Porterville has installed Flock Safety cameras that records every car that drives past them.
Yes, including yours.
Your license plate, location & daily movements are being stored in a database right now and can be filtered through using AI.
This is being done without warrants, notice or your consent.
In Sedgwick, Kansas police chief, Lee Nygaard used Flock cameras installed in his city to track his ex-girlfriend’s location over 160 times before anyone caught him.
Other cases of officers using Flock to stalk people they knew personally have been recorded in the United States.
Any police officer with a login can look up where you’ve been, when you went, and how often you frequent a location.
This is a complete invasion of your privacy.
In Mountain View, California, and Oxnard (yes, in our own state) their cities thought their data was safe from federal access, however many outside agencies accessed it anyway without authorization— How are we sure that this hasn’t happened here as well?
We are calling on Porterville Mayor Greg Meister and City Council Members Raymond Beltran, AJ Rivas, Ed McKervey, and Stan Green to:
- Cancel the City of Porterville’s Flock Safety contract within 30 days
- Do not renew or replace it with any similar license plate reader technology
- Publicly release the City of Porterville’s full Flock Safety contract including the total cost to Porterville taxpayers.
