Cancel culture strikes again for Roy Chubby Brown from the Ambassador Theatre Group

The Issue

As many of you are aware, Royston Vasey the man behind the act of Roy "Chubby" Brown has been performing at venues for well over 35 years now to packed out auditoriums around the UK and Ireland.

Some venues/ councils where he's been performing for a number of years are bowing down to the cancel culture and have banned Mr Vasey from performing his act of Roy "Chubby" Brown.

The latest is the Ambassador theatre group which have hosted a number of the Roy "Chubby" Brown shows over the years have banned him from performing at all of their venues up and down the country, Torquay, Oxford, Sunderland, Wycombe, Birmingham, Folkestone, Handley/Stoke just to name a few. The latter 2 venues Folkstone and Handley/ Stoke were both complete sell outs with standing ovations.

The reasons they (The Ambassador Theatre Group) have said is that Roy does not align with there values of "equity , diversity and inclusivity".

At the end of day this isn’t about Roy or the nature of Roy’s act. It’s about people using their positions and dictating to people what they can and can’t do if it doesn’t suit / agree with their opinion. What gives anyone in councils or venues the right to decide for you and take away your freedom of speech / choice. If you wish to attend a Roy "Chubby" Brown show that's your choice, fans shouldn't have their minds made up for them by councils/ theatre groups.

To the Management and executives at the Ambassador Theatre Group also including venues/ councils in Reading and Bridlington (as they aren't ATG ran venues), why not challenge the venues, councils, programmers and people who choose to attend the Roy "Chubby" Brown shows, we challenge you to let the public and communities decide for ourselves. Give us the right to choose and not be dictated to.

To those that believe fans of Mr Vaseys act of Roy "Chubby" Brown should be free to go and see him perform at the venues up and down the country (not just ATG run i.e council, company or independently owned too) please give this sign and share.

When you sign, you maybe prompted to confirm your signature via a link sent to your email. If you don't confirm your signature via the link when asked/ prompted, your signature won't be added!
