For CRT to let The Floating Boulangerie trade, have events on board and live music
Le problème
The Floating Boulangerie is a French bakery on a canal boat born during lockdown.
Lindsay Morel and Jeremy Huguet are both the founders of this amazing concept.
They host events such as breakfast on board, pizza nights with live music but also sell freshly baked goods to passers by through their boat’s hatch.
(I have been a very loyal customer myself - I live in Haggerston by the canal, and I can only say that it has been a joy and a delight to have them moored close to where I live)
This year has been so sad for the most of us, London is not what it used to be anymore. There is absolutely nowhere you can go out and feel safe, most places are overcrowded, and no more places allow live music.
These two lovely humans are only trying to bring joy and normality back by hosting small events, with very small seating capacity. They are also making sure their customers are in a Covid safe environment and that artists such as musician / buskers get some work. They are both very respectful, for instance they only host music events on Saturday night from 6.00 to 9.00pm and always make sure the music stops by 8.30pm.
Unfortunately it seems that because of a few complaints, canal and river trust (water authorities in London) is putting their business at risk by stopping them from having events. They might also not be able to have customers coming on board.
Like a lot of small business they do not only rely on visibility but also on local support to survive. I am sure lot of people would be on my side saying what they’ve achieved so far is amazing and that it would disappoint A LOT of people if they had to stop hosting events.
I have myself been looking forward to have them again in the area.
Please sign this petition if you are or are planning on being a customer of The Floating Boulangerie. They NEED your support, and we NEED this business on the waterways !
