Ramiro Sepulveda is one of two Canada Post employees from Regina, Saskatchewan who refused to deliver The Epoch Times unsolicited. He was temporarily suspended for protecting residents from receiving misinformation and damaging, racially tinged material.
As part of his ongoing advocacy, he has been working with myself and others to share his story and provide advice on how to move forward.
Colton: Ramiro, why did you feel compelled to take action and refuse delivery of The Epoch Times?
Ramiro: I felt compelled to refuse the delivery of The Epoch Times because the current state of the world and the escalation of hate crimes towards the East Asian community. This propaganda has no truthful evidence or credible sources to back its theories and articles. It is very divisive and can be dangerous when handed out to every household in Canada.
C: And what can residents of Canada do to support you?
R: What people can do is contact Canada post and express your concerns, put a no flyer sticker on your mailbox, and contact your local MP with your concerns.
C: With everything going on from rising misinformation to inflamed divisions, do you have any advice for people that feel powerless?
R: I would love for Canadians to welcome and learn from each other. Learn about the people in your community, in this time of chaos and stress, we need each other more than ever. It's not a time for division and blame, but a time to see what we as a people are made of and how we get through these crazy times.
Thank you Ramiro for your example and for your continued efforts.
