i think the right for UK citizens to defend there home with guns,  just like the united states is needed,the police in the UK cannot be relied upon in certain situations of course there will have to be checks made on people to see if they are not criminals or mentally unstable,so we can have self defence like America in a safe controlled way.

the UK government has stripped all rights away from law abiding citizens,we was able to own handguns up until 1997 and the law has not been relaxed so as it currently stands in the UK we are not allowed to defend our own homes and if we do we end up going to prison, while none law abiding citizens can walk around with whatever weapon they want which just proves that banning weapons does not work!,as a British person myself i want my rights back and i want the ability to protect my home without fear of being prosecuted or arrested just because i was defending my property.
