The Grand National is renowned as the most dangerous and notorious Horse Race in the entire World risking the welfare and wellbeing of every participant. It is staged every year at Aintree England where 40 horses run a staggering 4 miles whilst undertaking 30 perilous fences. It was first  introduced in 1839 and has just approached the 175th Anniversary. Throughout the years it has been infamous for a high level of fatalities all in the name of ‘Entertainment and Betting’. This is an outdated and cruel practice which results in multiple mortalities year after year. 2023 is the year another 3 Horses have sadly passed away through no fault of their own but through the exhausting and unacceptable race that is the ‘Grand National’. Every time a horse jumps these fences it puts an undue level of strain on the front limbs. Running takes enough effort without the excessive fences to contend with. The British Horse Authority state every year ‘apologies to those connected to the fatalities but yet every year the race resumes. What is the apology? It says protestors are putting the Horses in harms way by causing stress and not understanding racing? Yet The race doesn’t spare any stress? But causes injury’s and fatalities. The death toll now stands at 62 since 2000. It is said the Horses are very well cared for but what does it stand for when it’s all taken away at the Grand National?
