Earlier today, Dallas Brodie took to social media with a video of her rising in the Legislative Assembly today to complain about her VSB booking being cancelled. She claims that volunteers gave out 5,000 pieces of literature about the event, and that she "can't believe this is happening" given that she has two "esteemed" guests.
She forgot to mention that the location of the event isn't on the literature. It's true that these were handed out in the riding, but the location is listed as TBA and the postcard simply directs people to her website. There is a line that says one of the topics of discussion is the "OneBC vision and platform." That line is (ineffectively) crossed out with... a sharpie? Very professional.
Let's sum up what she's been up to leading up to today:
- Earlier this month, she announced that she'd be holding a town hall event at Prince of Wales secondary school on May 2nd with unspecified guests.
- She handed out 5,000 postcards that did not have the location of the event.
- Neighbours as well as some municipal politicians mobilized to write to VSB, because VSB has clear policies against allowing events and speakers that contravene the Human Rights Code of BC. These efforts were led by parents of kids at the impacted school.
- On April 24th, in response to a "strong" public reaction, the event was cancelled.
- At some point, she updated her social posts to "location TBA" and revealed that one of the guests is Paul Jaffe.
- Paul Jaffe is a lawyer best known for losing multiple court cases alleging that science-based COVID-19 restrictions intended to protect vulnerable members of the community violated the religious freedom of a few churches in the Fraser Valley. He also represented Barry Neufeld, disgraced former Chilliwack School Board Trustee who recently lost a Human Rights Tribunal case, where they found that his publications were "likely to expose trans, gay and lesbian people to hatred or contempt based on their gender identity or sexual orientation."
In other words, Dallas Brodie is inviting hate into our riding, and then complaining that she's the victim when people directly affected by that hate (families attending the school where she planned to platform her "guests") raised concerns. She's altering her constituent materials to try and hide the partisan nature of her upcoming event. And she also essentially lied to the Legislative Assembly and her supporters by implying that the distribution of literature was somehow negatively affected by the venue change, when that is objectively untrue. Since the location was not printed on the cards, she can just change venues to a private location, like the ones she used for her last two events in the riding.

We are so sick of her being our MLA and doing nothing positive for the riding whatsoever. And there's something we can do about it! Please support the recall at https://www.recallbrodie.com/
