Petition updateCalling on Vancouver- Quilchena MLA Dallas Brodie to resignOptions for responding to Brodie's planned UBC visit tomorrow
Brodie ResignVancouver, Canada
Jan 21, 2026

It's looking like a residential school denialist event at UBC at 11 am tomorrow will be the closest Dallas Brodie has come to holding a public event in or near our riding since she was elected.

Many of us have ties to UBC and we've been listening and considering carefully over the past week as the community debates what the best response is.

With deep respect, we will share the options for people to decide what is right for them. We will not be organizing any type of formal action.

  • Ignore them. They want attention and provocation. We believe Survivors. We believe these issues are not up for debate.
  • Stand in solidarity with Survivors. A group will meet at 10:30 am outside the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre (near the fountain). Wear an orange shirt and bring a mask to protect your identity. Keep the focus on justice for residential school survivors, and do not debate or engage directly with Brodie or her fellow denialists.

We cannot emphasize enough how important is to to not confront, debate, or attack denialists at events like this. That's what they want. Let's not give them something to use for their own political and financial gain.

Last, we want to express gratitude to UBC for taking the time yesterday to put up Every Child Matters banners on Main Mall. An image is worth a thousand words. Thank you for this expression of where our community stands.

We stand with Survivors and everyone affected to this day by the harmful legacy of the residential school system.
