As someone who works with non-verbal students, I am deeply concerned and appalled by the recent reports of mistreatment in our local special education program. These students, who rely on others for their voice, deserve the utmost respect, care, and protection. Unfortunately, a recent case of alleged abuse by a special education teacher that was simply brushed under the rug and hidden, has shaken our community's trust and has raised urgent questions about the safety and well-being of our most vulnerable students.

Special education teachers hold a position of immense responsibility, and with that comes the duty to protect, support, and empower their students.
